Kottayam: The preliminary report of the Kottayam Medical College Forensic Unit, which conducted the autopsy of Fr. George Ettuparayil, claimed that excess water in the chest caused his death. The head and neck suffered minor injuries in the fall, according to the report. On Sunday evening, following the disappearance of Fr. George, the body was recovered yesterday morning by the police and parish members of Changanassery Archdiocese. The police said that there was no mystery in the death and that he was suffering from mental distress.
The body will be cremated at St. John’s Church, Thekkekkara, Mankombu on Thursday morning at 11 am. He was ordained to the priesthood on January 4, 1996. After serving in the churches of Changanassery, Edathua, Makannur, Chenkulam, Pampady, Thakazhi, Aruvikkuzhi, Mannancheri, Kayalpuram and Vettim, he served in the diocese of Chicago, USA since 2015. Upon his return he was ordained vicar of Punnathura few months before.
