Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, Keralite Catholic priest who was recently released from the captivity of Yemen terrorists after 18 months, is expected to arrive in Delhi, capital of India, on 28th September, 2017 and is believed to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the External Affairs Minister of India, Sushma Swaraj, to express his gratitude for his rescue, after which he will celebrate a Thanksgiving Holy Mass at the Sacred Heart’s Cathedral, Delhi, at 6:30 pm.
Fr. Uzhunnalil will then fly to Bengaluru, where he will spend two days before leaving for Kochi, Kerala and on October 1st, he is expected to head for his hometown at Ramapuram in Kottayam district, where his family and hometown people are planning a grand welcome for the priest. The priest is also likely to meet the chief minister of Kerala, Mr. Pinarayi Vijayan and the leader of the opposition party Mr. Ramesh Chennithala.
Fr. Uzhunnalil was abducted from the port city of Aden after the terror group attacked a care home run by Mother Theresa’s Missionaries of Charity. He was rescued from captivity from Yemen on September 12, 2017, and was flown to Vatican for rest and recuperation.
