In a recent meeting of all the leading bishops of the Catholic Churches in Atlanta, that took place in South Carolina, in which the growth and expansion of the Church was the main subject of discussion, His Excellency Wilton D. Gregory, the Archbishop of Atlanta , remarked the significance of the growth of Catholic Churches in the country that reflects the number of Catholics moving from northern diocese to the south.
As reported by the Catholic news agency , His Excellency Wilton D. Gregory quoted that, “ We are all in a growth mode. That’s a good thing.” His Grace continued, “ We are spending part of our time here talking about the need to establish new parishes, expand pastoral outreach and respond to growing numbers both from immigration and those moving here from other parts of the country. We all are sharing in this growth.”
The discussion in the meeting also included the ways in which the legislation and the political climate was affecting immigrant populations.
