The largest religious order ‘The Holy Cross Congregation’ in Bangladesh is to begin its new mission in northern Rajshahi Diocese. St. Francis Xavier’s church at Foilzana in Pabna District has been handed over to Fr. James C. Cruze, provincial of the Holy Cross Fathers, by His Excellency Bishop Gervas Rozario of Rajshahi. By starting the new mission, Holy Cross has now a presence in the country’s entire eight Catholic dioceses.
As reported by ucanews.com, His Excellency Bishop Rozario remarked that “The diocese has a shortage of priests and lacks funds to operate schools; so we thought Holy Cross could use their missionary skills to help us.”
The congregation focuses more on the development of the rural area and has 70 priests, 99 brothers and 100 nuns; local and foreign working in various capacities in Bangladesh.
