MANILA: President Rodrigo Duterte has joined forces with the people of the Philippines to celebrate Mother’s Day celebrations with a call for unity and a progressive nation. In his message, he said that he is partaking with the people of the Philippines who are celebrating the feast of the Holy Virgin Mother.
May the unselfish service of the Holy Virgin Mary, her devotion to her family, and her complete trust in the Almighty God guide our suffering life. Duterte concludes his vows for the festivities of his mother with the hope that his mother’s baptism feast will inspire every citizen to have peace and good faith. In 2017, President Duterte announced his mother’s festive holiday, December 8, as a public holiday in the Philippines by signing Republic Act No. 10966.
The conception of Mary is the belief that the Virgin Mary was born without sin. In 1854, Pope Pius IX proclaimed his mother’s fondness for faith. The Catholic Church exhorts us that, from the moment the Virgin Mary was conceived by the Holy Spirit, God’s special blessing on the merits of Jesus as Savior of the human race has been freed from sin.
