In his official three-day visit to Russia, His Lordship Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, conveyed the significant role played by the Holy See on global scene given its attention to both spiritual and diplomatic themes. His Eminence Cardinal Parolin also explained the importance to conduct fraternal dialogue and unity in order to take good care of each nation to foster peace, in an interview with Russian News Agency, TASS.
As reported by Catholic News Agency, His Lordship Cardinal Parolin remarked that “The Holy See simultaneously performs both a spiritual and a diplomatic role and that is why the Vatican diplomacy is of special nature.” Further, His Eminence added, “It does not rely on any other force except for taking care of every person and every nation through dialogue and when we walk this path together and conduct fraternal dialogue , we can feel the moments of unity.”
The interview not only focused on the Holy See’s diplomatic task but also highlighted largely on the relations between Catholic and Russian Orthodox Churches, specifically in terms of preserving traditional Christian values.
