His Excellency Cardinal Joseph Zen ze-kiun, retired bishop of Hong Kong and Protestant Reverend Wu Chi-wai  led a prayer gathering of 300 Christians at St.Vincent’s Chapel to pray for terminally-ill Liu, Xiaobo, the 2010 Nobel Prize winner. The prayer gathering was organized by Justice and Peace Commission and Labor Affairs Commission of the diocese of Hong Kong.

As reported by the ucanindia.in, His Eminence Joseph Zen reflected that “Liu Xiaobo is like Prophet Jeremiah and also like a sheep waiting to be killed but we have begged God’s justice for you, Liu.” His Lordship continued, “But your wisdom reminded us the mission of a prophet naturally including suffering and so we dedicate you and your wife to God for the renewal of our country.”

Liu was sentenced to prison for  11years for inciting subversion of state power on Dec 25, 2009 and in 2010 he was awarded Nobel Prize for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.”
