The Hungarian minister has warned that if he abandons Christianity he will lose his country’s identity. In an interview with the Catholic News Agency, Hungarian Minister for Families Catalin Novak said that Hungary’s Christian identity is under threat because of its plans for Hungarian families. Hungary is experiencing a large reduction in the population, as is the case in many European countries, and is seeking to reverse that decline by providing family-friendly programs for refugees from West Asia, rather than relying on population increases, the minister said.
Catalin Novak also spoke at the second annual conference on family policies jointly organized by the Brazilian government on Capitol Hill in the US. She cited seven policy initiatives announced by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for the growth and prosperity of families. Cataline Novak said that Christians need help in the areas of persecution and they are part of their identity. Members of the Trump administration, Congress, and other non-governmental organizations were present at the conference.
