Budapest: Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban says Europe’s religious, cultural and democratic character is changing rapidly and that he foresees severe anti-Christian persecution in Europe in the near future, such as in Middle East countries such as Iraq, Syria, and Nigeria. He also warned that the persecution of Christians in Europe was closer than many thought. He was speaking at the second international conference organized by the Hungarian government in Budapest on Christians who are being persecuted globally.

Orban pointed out that the only way to save Europe was to go back to true Christian values with their Christian roots and personality. Worldwide, some 24.5 million Christians are persecuted. As far as the five Christians are concerned, four of them have been persecuted in some way. Orban accused Europe of being silent on the matter.

In his message, Orban also criticized Europe’s politicians for being “paralyzed”, saying that all these were part of common human rights issues. Orban noted that the Constitution, in its own constitution, speaks of the power, authority, and nationality of the Christian faith and that Hungary is the first country in the world to set up a government ministry for the persecuted Christians. He says the biggest help to save the European continent comes from Christians who are being persecuted by the government.

“We are sowing a seed, we need to give to the persecuted Christians and instead accept Christian faith, love, and stability from them,” Orban explained. The International Conference on Religious Persecution against Christians, attended by representatives from around the world, concluded yesterday. Prominent Christian leaders and representatives from various countries attended the conference.
