The Episcopal Ordination of Mar John Nellikunnel, the Bishop Designate of Idukki, will be held on 5th April 2018, from 2:00 pm onwards at St. George Cathedral, Vazhathope. His Eminence Cardinal Mar George Alencherry, the Major Archbishop of the Syro-Malabar Church, will be the chief-celebrant for the services of the ordination. Mar Mathew Anikuzhikattil, former Bishop of Idukki and Mar Mathew Madathikandathil, Bishop of Kothamangalam, will be the co-celebrants for the services.
The ordination services will begin with a procession at 1:30 pm, in which more than hundred faithful are expected to join. His Excellency Mar Thomas Koorilos, Archbishop of Tiruvalla, will address the gathering with his keynote speech.
The ecclesiastical provision of the new appointment of Mar John Nellikunnel for the diocese of Idukki was made public in Rome on Friday, 12th January, 2018, at noon local time, corresponding to 16:30 hours, Indian Standard Time.
