His Excellency Archbishop Romulo Valles of Davao , the new president of Philippine Bishops’ Conference conveyed the importance of active dialogue for the development of the Catholic Churches and also to have a good vision for the country. His Grace Archbishop Valles was the current vice-president of the collegial body and as per the followed tradition the Church elected Davao prelate as the head of the Conference and as their new leader.
As reported by the ucanews.com, His Excellency Archbishop Valles observed that, “I look at my election with faith that even with all my limitations God must have allowed it, me to be elected as president.” His Grace added “It is important to pursue dialogue especially amid the conflict in the southern part of the country where government security forces continue to battle terrorist gunmen.”
His Excellency Archbishop Valles was ordained a priest on April 6, 1976 and will be the 20th head of the 72-year old collegial body of 83 active bishops, five diocesan administrators, and 43honorary members of the conference.
