Asia Bibi, the Christian woman who is imprisoned and condemned to death for blasphemy in Pakistan gets the permission to keep the rosary which she has received from Holy Father Pope Francis. She considers this permission as a miracle since this is the first time in nine years that she has been able to hold a religious object in her cell. Asia Bibi highlighted that she had received this gift of the rosary with devotion and gratitude.  She received the Rosary from her husband Ashiq and daughter Eisham who visited her in prison.

As reported by ncregister.com, Asia Bibi remarked that “Rosary will be of great consolation for me, just as it comforts me to know that the Holy Father prays for me and thinks of me in these difficult conditions.” Ashiq and Eisham had just returned from their trip to Italy with Aid to the Church in Need, during which they were received in private audience by the Holy Father on Feb. 24. At that meeting, Pope Francis gave Eisham an extra Rosary to bring to her mother and assured her of his prayers.

Jailed in June 2009 and sentenced to death in 2010, Asia has been held in one of the three windowless cells on death row in the southern province of Multan in the Punjab Penitentiary.
