LAHORE: The brutal death of a Christian youth in Pakistan has once again revealed the harsh discrimination suffered by religious minorities in Pakistan. Twenty-two-year-old Salim Masih was brutally killed for using water from a well in Baguyana village in Kasur district of Punjab province. On February 28, a group of people attacked a man who washed his body with water in a well after work. The attackers pointed out that the water in the well was contaminated. Masih, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Lahore Hospital where he died on Monday.
Fr. Fr. Kaiser Firoz OFM said. He further said that the killings are once again demonstrating the intolerance of the Christians and the intolerance of the people. Punjab Human Rights Minister Ejaz Alam Augustine responded by stating that strict action will be taken in the incident. Christians are interpreted as second-class citizens of the country and organized terrorist attacks against them are common in Pakistan.
