Different communities all over India joined hands in prayers in remembrance of the victims of the multiple bomb blasts that took place in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday.Social activists and civil society groups gathered in the Ambedkar Park near the district headquarters in the Hindu city of Varanasi to pray together for those who died in the Easter day attacks in the churches and hotels in Srilanka and the Muslims who became victims of the ethnic xenophobia in New Zealand last month. Theatre artists of Prerna Kala Manch and Sisters of Queen of the Apostles sang bhajans and sacred scriptures of different religions by their respective representatives. The prayer meeting was held under the guidance of Fr. Anand IMS, the coordinator of Sajha Sanskriti Manch (United Forum for Cultural Diversity), which organized this prayer appeal.
The Archdiocese of Trivandrum conducted a special prayer meeting expressing solidarity with the victims of the mass murder in Sri Lanka, at St Joseph’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Palayam. The prayer ceremony was led by His Grace Archbishop Most Rev Dr.Soosai Pakkiom. Rev Msgr. Nicholas and hundreds of devotees took part in the prayer service and candle vigil.
The Muslim community gathered near the residence of the Archbishop of Bangalore along Miller’s Road on Tuesday expressing solidarity for the victims of the Srilankan blast.
