Last year, 2983 Christians were killed for the sake of faith, but the figure is lower than last year. Meanwhile, in the year 2019, 8537 Christians were raped or sexually assaulted for their faith in Jesus. The report notes that the vast majority of sexual assaults occur in secret or closed rooms, but only a fraction of the iceberg. 9488 churches and buildings were attacked last year.
More than 5500 attacks were reported in China. It is also worth noting that 2018 is an increase of over 1000%. 3711 Christians were unjustly arrested last year. 1052 were abducted. 3315 Christian homes were attacked or burned. About 14645 Christians were physically and mentally persecuted in various ways. Most of these have occurred in India, China, and sub-Saharan Africa where Islamist organizations are trying to destabilize.
The Open Doors show that at least 23 people are raped worldwide, 10 are incarcerated, and twenty-eight churches or Christian buildings are raped worldwide for their faith in Christ.
