The most awaited Asian Youth Day of all the Catholic Churches in Asia is taking place in Yogyakarta, city of Indonesia and is hosted by the Archdiocese of Semarang from August 2- 6, 2017, with over 2000 young people participating from 21 Asian countries mobilizing  around the theme “Joyful Asian Youth: Living the Gospel in Multi-cultural Asia.” Among the 21 countries, the young Catholic minds from India are also preparing themselves to be a part of this wonderful youth day. 85 young faithful from different parts of India are going to take part in the event.  The energetic youth have prepared themselves, following the pre-event module recommended by the committee in Indonesia.

Ms. Jenny Joy, secretary of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) remarked that “The main aim of participating in Asian Youth Day is to experience various cultural differences since Asia is known for her cultural diversities.” Further, she added, “Asian Youth Day will bring all the young minds of Catholic together to strengthen our Faith through unity.”

The young Indian Catholics would be performing a dance and also would be putting a stall, all as a part to showcase the Indian culture before the foreign youths. The event would include cultural programs, video presentations, regional sharings, different workshops and many more. The director of ICYM is Fr. Deepak Thomas, the president of the movement is Mr. Sijo Ambatt and the secretary is Ms. Jenny Joy.
