Jesuit priests from 12 countries gathered together at Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in Jombang, East Java, on August 10, 2017, to learn about Islam, diversity and interreligious tolerance in Indonesia. The priests were given an opportunity to talk with the students of an Islamic Boarding School, to know about their life experiences and what their faith means to them. The priests from Germany, France, Nigeria, Turkey, India, Spain, Italy and Indonesia.
As reported by ucanews.com, Jesuit Father Franz Magnis Suseno, who led the group, remarked that “The gathering is a part of regular meetings among priest who join the Jesuit Among Muslims (JAM) program and this year Indonesia is the host.”
The Jesuit priests got to know about the faith of the students in the Boarding School which has more than 7000 students and also learned about Nahdlatul Ulema, Indonesia’s largest moderate Islamic organization.
