Holy Father Pope Francis while addressing the faithful gathered at St. Peter’s Square, reflected on the gospel for the fourth Sunday and highlighted the scenario when Jesus Christ exorcises a demon from a man. His Holiness Pope Francis reflected that Jesus here is presented as a prophet powerful in word and in deed and portrayed that those witnessed that exorcism are amazed by His words because they are not ordinary words.
As reported by Vatican Radio, Holy Father Pope Francis remarked that “Jesus has a fullness of authority. His doctrine is new. Christ’s authority consisted not only in His words but also in His deeds. The few words that Jesus addressed to the man possessed by the demon were enough to obtain the victory over Satan. The power of Jesus confirms the authority of His teaching.” Further, His Holiness added, “Jesus does not simply pronounce words, He acts. In this way, He makes manifest the project of God with words and with the power of works.”
His Holiness Pope Francis concluded his homily with a prayer to Mother Mary, the woman of listening, that she might help us to achieve silence within and around us, in order to hear the word of Jesus Christ amid the racket of the world.
