Mumbai Marathon has paved a way for the Karunya Trust of Kalyan Diocese in the city to run for a noble cause- to raise funds and create awareness, with the theme ‘educating generations and empowering nation’. Karunya Trust drew many runners to the marathon from the trust who participated tirelessly under the guidance of Fr. Paul Kunduparambil, the director of Karunya Trust.
Kevin Jose Ponmany, Manager Resource Mobilization/ M&E of Karunya Trust remarked that “This is my 5th Year being part of the Karunya Team handling the event Mumbai Marathon for NGO Karunya Trust. I am very proud of the success Karunya Trust has achieved in this event in all these Editions of Mumbai Marathon. Karunya Trust has been improving every year in terms of a number of people who run for our cause and also the total funds raised through the event.” Further, he added, “I would like to thank all the Corporates, Individual Donors, Online Fundraisers, Karunya Staff members, for their wholehearted support in Mumbai Marathon 2018 and making this event a grand success.”
Karunya Trust of the Diocese of Kalyan in these last 5 years at Mumbai Marathon has won a couple Costume awards and also been rated as the Top 10 NGO in the Charity Bib selling section. Kevin highlighted that it is the support of the Donors and Benefactors who have been supporting them year after year and underlined that it is the impact created by Karunya Trust in the lives of the children, women, families, and communities that have urged more and more people to come ahead and support this NGO. Mumbai Marathon is the largest marathon in Asia as well as the largest mass participation sporting event on the continent.
