Cochin: the Kerala Catholic Bishop’s Council, KCBC has issued a notice against the multi-edition Malayalam daily ‘Mathrubhumi’ for allegedly portraying the image of Catholic Christian religious in their last weekend edition. According to the notice, the article was also defamatory to the catholic community in Kerala as a whole. Addressing the agitation and offensive nature of the article, KCBC president Archbishop Dr Soosa Pakiam had issued a letter to the Mathrubhumi Printing and Publishing Co. 

The notice highlights the biased nature of various news articles published in the newspaper and it’s associate outlets, over the span of the last two years. The letter also mentions that the practices rendered by the newspaper and its outlets are in contrast to their assertions. Also, that it provokes the peace and habilitative nature of the Kerala Catholic community. KCBC says reported that media has to be responsible in practice and not induce public animosity. Archbishop Pakiam also points out that the newspaper is degrading its own standards by not following the ethical practices to its best levels.
