Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan expressed happiness over the release of Keralite Catholic priest Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, who was abducted last year in Yemen. Kerala CM highlighted his gratitude towards Oman government for playing a crucial role in rescuing the priest and ensured the state support for the treatment of Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil, who is now in Vatican for rest and recuperation.
As reported by abplive.in, Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan remarked that “Happy to hear about the release of Fr. Tom and it is learnt that Oman played a crucial role in his release.” Further, in his Face book post, CM informed that “The Vatican priest is unwell and undergoing treatment in Oman; Kerala will support him with his treatment and return to Kerala.”
Fr. Tom Uzhunnalil was reportedly kidnapped in March, 2016 by ISIS, in Yemen, when they attacked an old age home in Aden, run by the Missionaries of Charity, killing sixteen people, including four nuns.
