On 14th January 2016, the Kalyan Eparchy Youth (KEY) from Kalina Forane organized ‘Gear Up – Ride for a cause’, a cycle rally to raise funds to sponsor the education of 2 children through Karunya Trust.
Participants came in large numbers and travelled from various parts of Mumbai to support the cause. The rally began at Kalina with an opening ceremony where Father Sinto Pulikkottil, the Forane youth director addressed the crowd and inaugurated the event. Participants were encouraged to get their own bicycles but it was also provided to those who didn’t own any. Hence, making sure that everyone and anyone who can ride a bicycle was welcomed. The rally proceeded with the participants cycling in a two column fashion. The rally terminated at the Mount Mary Basilica in Bandra. At the concluding ceremony, Mr. Sajesh Abraham, the animator of the Dexcos of KEY, was the chief guest for the event and congratulated the participants for successfully completing the rally without any injuries or difficulties. The participants were awarded certificates as a token of appreciation at the concluding ceremony, followed by snacks. Kudos to the organizing team for the smooth running of the event.
A cycle rally is a fantastic way to get everyone together to work for a cause. It is also a refreshing change to see eco-friendly initiatives being taken up. Through the cycle rally, the event was able to spread the cause to the masses and encourage everyone to use greener alternatives.
