KOCHI: The Kerala Latin Catholic Council has said that the situation in which girls are being subjected to rape, assaults and murders in the name of romantic relationships is increasing in Kerala and free legal protection will be provided to such victims. There have been many instances where tragedies have occurred because the complaints of girls and parents have not been paid at face value.
In such circumstances, the authorities have a duty to protect the life and property of the citizens. The joint committee said the KLCA and the youth organization LCYM would provide free legal protection to the vulnerable, including in cases where the authorities did not take any action despite the harassment and threats. Awareness programs will also be organized.
