Los Angeles: The world is in shock for the unexpected death of Cobb Bryan and his daughter, who is an American basketball legend and a determined Christian. The helicopter that Bryant and his crew were traveling in exploded fire in the Calabas Hills area of southern California. The helicopter crew also killed 9 people. Bryant, a father of four, is a good family man and a firm believer in sports beyond the ranks of one of the world’s greatest basketball players.
Bryant and his wife regularly attended Holy Communion at Orange County Church in the parish of California. Some have reported on social media that he had attended the Holy Mass just before the helicopter flight. Bryant said in 2015 that the Catholic faith has helped her to face the challenges of her own life and family life. In 2003, Bryant revealed that he was a Catholic priest who had given him the courage to face the charge of imprisonment following his conviction.
Even though Bryant’s wife, Vanessa, filed for divorce in 2011, Bryant confessed that she was held by God. Two years later, Vanessa filed for divorce. Singer Christina Ballestero posted on Instagram: “His most inspiring feature is that he decided to turn to God after a sorry decision and become a better man by receiving God’s mercy.”
Bryant has also done many charitable works for the poor through the ‘Kobe and Vanessa Family Foundation’. Los Angeles Archbishop Jose Gomez has expressed condolences over the death of Bryant. No details about Bryant and his daughter’s funeral have yet been released. Bryant, who played in the shooting guard position of the Los Angeles Lakers, has won numerous NBA championships, one league MVP award and two scoring championships.
