Thailand has now become a place where the Church is mostly run by the lay people because of the rising Christian persecutions and also deteriorating economic conditions in the country. The main issues haunting the people in Thailand includes refugees’ affairs, human trafficking, drugs and corruption affect. The Churches in the country are facing serious problems due to religious persecution and problematic refugee policies of Thailand. Thousands of individuals flee from their home land every year due to discrimination, war and religious persecution.

As reported by romereports.com, Dr. Sandro Calvani, Senior Adviser on Strategic Planning, Mae Fah Luang Foundation, Bangkok remarked that “The intense atmosphere in the country is slowly changing, due also to different missionary groups present, such as Mae Fah Luang Foundation, despite this help, the number of Catholics has not seen growth in the country and the Church is mostly run by lay people, who make up only 0.2 percent of the total population.” Further, he added, “Non-Christians throughout Thailand have come to believe that the God of Catholics is the God of mercy.”

Dr. Sandro emphasized t about the quality of the people in Thailand and Thai Catholic Community by referring them as the people on fire when it comes to faith.
