“A youth must be a performer, reformer and a transformer; only then will he become a true leader”- His Rev. Bishop Aloysius, Bishop of Mangalore said during the inauguration meeting of the 10th National Youth Convention held at Manglore. Most Rev. Dr. Bernard Moras, Archbishop of Banglore inaugurated the meeting.

The inaugural function started with a beautiful cultural program by the youth of Mangalore diocese followed by the ICYM president Mr. Sijo Ambatt welcoming all the guest of honours and the delegates. Bishop Henry D’souza, Chairman of the CBCI Youth Commission, highlighted the need of Christian leaders in the Indian society. He stressed on the fact that only education and graduation is not enough, becoming leaders is important. He says, “dream in the head, compassion in the eyes, joy on the face, truth in the mouth, love in the heart and service in the limbs should be the motto of every Catholic youth”. Miss Grace Pinto, the campus Director of Ryan International Group of Institutions, too stressed on the point of youth taking up responsibilities. She said such responsibilities starts at home by honouring your father and mother. Nothing is impossible in Jesus and hardworking can help achieve all things.

The need of Catholic leaders in the society and in politics is the need of time for the Catholic church. Especially, when Christian communities and churches are targeted and anti-secularism seeds are seen being sowed in the society.
