His Eminence Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malankara Church and CBCI President, while addressing the galaxy of intellectuals gathered or the 33rd General Body meeting of CBCI, urged the faithful to respect the differences by standing united. Mar Cleemis highlighted that differences are a sign of unity and reflected that the Church has always been in support of secularism and patriotism, which itself conveys that the Church respects differences in the country.
As reported by Catholicvox.com, Mar Cleemis remarked that “The Church will continue trying to encourage democracy in the country to its fullest and to implement it effectively.” Further, His Eminence Cardinal added, “The Church is always ready to support any community who tries to do good, see good and encourage good in the society. Patriotism is seen and respected immensely by the Church in its good sense.”
Mar Baselios Cleemis concluded his remarks by reminding that the Church gets disappointed when the people get divided and harm each other in the name of caste and religion. His Eminence Cardinal exhorted the individuals to be different in a good way by doing good to the society.
