Today’s headlines in the Mangalam Newspaper and Manorama Online are: “Syro Malabar mouthpiece criticizing the Synod and Major Archbishop” (Mangalam). The news headline of News 18 was shared by the news media with the headline: “Syro Malabar Church in Love Jihad Circular Two Way, Synod Circular Against Angamaly Archdiocese”.

The source of these reports is an article in the column “Between the Lines” in the weekly issue of Satyadeepam published by the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly. “Can the Citizenship Amendment and Love Jihad Be Combined?” Its title is. As a clergyman in the Syro-Malabar Church, I too have some opinions about these two stories based on that column. Any member of the church (the Mayors, the nuns, the clergy and the bishops) can correct me if I am wrong in what I say.

1. The most important thing is that the lamp of truth is not the mouthpiece of the Syro-Malabar Church. Satyadeepam is the only publication of the Archdiocese of Ernakulam-Angamaly, a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church. Printed and published by Fr. Mathew Kilukkan for and on behalf of the Ernakulam Archdiocesan Publication Trust is very clearly printed on the last page of every lamp. In other dioceses, the lamps were also distributed. In recent years, however, the misrepresentation of the doctrine of faith and the laxity of faith have severely affected the popularity of the lamp.

He wrote letters against the Syro-Malabar Synod and the Father of the Church on many occasions, prompting clergymen among other denominations to discourage him from following the lamp. I am a witness to the unity of the lamp in some of the temples in Malabar.

2. The column “between the lines” is simply a person’s expression. It is a joke to compare the feelings of just one person to the comment of the Synod of the Syro Malabar Church. The commonality of being able to compare or compare merits needs to be maintained. First, ask whether the newspaper is taking responsibility for the article. Second, it is necessary to find out whether even the believers in the Archdiocese of Ernakulam and Angamaly agree with it. After all this, both sides of the House should be rejected, dear media!

3. The Syro-Malabar Bishops Synod is not a system of authoritative opinion on political affairs. The Syro Malabar Church’s Code of Particular Law, which outlines the nature, competence, and objectives of the Synod, is very detailed. The Synod’s views on political and social issues, however, are not uncommon. It is not without criticism. Of course, everyone has the freedom to criticize and oppose it in the church and in this democratic state of India. It is true that the Catholic Church has had different opinions on the Citizenship Bill and the Citizenship Registrar, as has been criticized in that column.
