Kakkanad: The Syro-Malabar Synod has assessed that the rise of Love Jihad in Kerala is alarming as it threatens religious harmony and social harmony in Kerala. The Synod has estimated that Christian girls are being killed in the name of love jihad in Kerala too. The tragedy of a girl who lost her life in a very short period of time in recent years is a deep blow to the secular conscience of Kerala. The fact that the police are not taking proper action on such matters is a matter of concern.
It is a fact that Love Jihad is being targeted at Christian girls. IS from Kerala The fact that half of the 21 persons who testified by the Kerala Police that they were recruited to terrorist organizations were converted to Christianity should be opened to our eyes. It is also a matter of serious concern that many girls, who are not under the purview of the Gaddafi, are used to terrorist acts through love jihad.
These statistics themselves testify that Love Jihad is not hypothetical. Recently, there have been complaints in the state of luring girls in love, torturing them and forcing them to convert or even torture Gichi. Sadly, none of these complaints were properly dealt with by the police. Law enforcement should take prompt action to understand the issue as a law-and-order problem affecting society.
The Synod also noted that efforts should be made to educate parents and children alike about the dangers of Love Jihad. The Syro-Malabar Synod also expressed concern over the increasing persecution of Christians on that sphere. The Synod observed that the Christian massacre in Nigeria on Christmas Day was a shock to the human conscience. The Synod, which has been held at Mount St. Thomas, Kakkanad for the past five days, will conclude today.
