Kanjirappally: The consecration of the new bishop of Kanjirappally will be held at St. Dominic’s Cathedral, Kanjipally, on 10th February at 10 am under the patronage of Major Archbishop Cardinal Mar George Alencherry. Mar Mathew Arakkal, who is 75 years old, has resigned as per the ecclesiastical norm and has accepted the Synod. Mar Pulikkal has been serving as the assistant bishop of Kanjirappally diocese since January 2016.
He said that he is grateful to the three great people who led the Kanjirappally diocese with a history of 43 years. He commemorated the contribution made by Mar Joseph Pavith, Mar Mathew Vattakkuzhi, and the present Bishop Mar Mathew Arakkal to the diocese. The love and cooperation of clergy and sincere folk are the strength of the diocese. Mar Pulikkal said that he is aware of his limitations and shortcomings and hopes that he will give me the grace to fulfill his commission.
