Changanassery: The 48-year-old Archbishop Mar Joseph Pavathil has been ordained to the priesthood for 48 years. He was ordained to the office of Archbishop of Changanacherry on January 29, 1972, and was ordained by Pope Paul VI on February 13, 1972, at St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican. He was appointed the first bishop of Kanjirapally diocese on February 26, 1977.
He was ordained a bishop on May 12, 1977. He was appointed as Archbishop of Changanacherry on 5 November 1985 after Archbishop Mar Antony Padiyara. He was appointed Archbishop on January 17, 1986. For 22 years he led the Archdiocese of Changanassery. He was ordained a priest on October 3, 1962.
