Ayarkunnam: Fr George Ettuparayil (55), vicar of St. Thomas parish in Punnathura in the Archdiocese of Changanassery, was found dead in a well in the Presbytery premises. As reports state, he was a native of Edutawa. Police were informed that he had gone missing since 22nd evening. He was found dead, while an investigation is underway.
Police and parishioners were searching for the missing priest since the report was filed. He was in charge of the church since few months after he came from abroad. The door of the clergy’s room was left unlocked. The CCTV cameras of the church were also turned off. Police have launched an investigation.
The Archdiocese of Changanacherry said in a statement that it expresses deep sorrow and condolences on the untimely death of Rev. Fr. George Ettupara. The family of the priest said that the death of some of the victims of the fire which broke out in the church compound some time ago had caused great distress to him.
