New Delhi: Mother Teresa’s missionaries of charity congregation’s Sr. Concelia Baxla, was granted freedom after 15 months of prison. Following the decree passed by the high court of Jharkhand, the sister was granted freedom on Saturday 28 October 2019. In a memorandum, the CBCI General Secretary and the assistant Bishop of Ranchi Dr. Theodore Mascarenas appreciated the sisters of Missionaries of charity for incessantly ring and maintaining peace even when one of them was in peril. He also congratulated the efforts of the lawyer who made this win possible.

The religious nun was arrested following charges on the pretext of human trafficking. Further, charges of illegal adoption was also pressed against the nun. Following the case, Sr. Baxla was arrested on 4th July 2018, and this had created havoc among the faithful, nationwide.
