The Missionaries of Charity congregation founded by St. Mother Theresa celebrated the 107th birth anniversary of the saint on August 26, 2017, in Kolkata. Special prayers and masses were held and candles were lit at her grave at Mother House here, the global headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, established in 1950. Her grave was decorated with flowers as the sisters and other eminent faithful sang beautiful hymns, read from the Bible and recalled her celebrated life.
As reported by thehindustantimes.com, Sunita Kumar, who was close to the saint, remarked that “We always feel her presence and she is with us all the time, in all the works for the people.” Present Superior General Sister Prema reflected that “The Missionaries of Charity continues to grow even in difficult areas.” as reported by ucanews.com.
St. Mother Theresa was born on August 26, 1910 at Skopje in Macedonia and she was called to eternal rest on September 5, 1997, less than a month after her86th birthday.
