His Eminence Cardinal Oswald Gracias, the newly elected president of Catholic Bishops Conference of India, after his new appointment, conveyed that he grateful to His Eminence Cardinal Cleemis, Major Archbishop of Syro-Malankara Church and the former president of CBCI, for the leadership he has given the Church so far.
His Eminence Cardinal Gracias remarked that “The Catholic Church in India is vibrant, is dynamic and we must keep it alive. There are many challenges, the idea is to make it more spiritual body, the body which has got a lot of voice in the general community, the voice of conscience, the moral voice, moral authority. We must seek to increase our service that we can be more effective in serving our country, serving our people.”
The new appointment was announced by the 33rd General Body meeting of CBCI, at St. John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru that will conclude on 9th February, 2018.
