Holy Father Pope Francis arrived in Yangon on 26th November afternoon to crowds of cheering and dancing faithful, as he begins his Apostolic Journey to Myanmar. His Excellency Archbishop Paul Tschang In-Nam, the Apostolic Nuncio to Myanmar and the country’s other bishops greeted Holy Father Pope Francis at Yangon’s airport.

Holy Father Pope Francis celebrated Holy Mass in private at the Archbishop of Yangon’s residence before having dinner and resting for the remainder of the day. On the route from the airport, hundreds of faithful robed in traditional dress lined the streets to express their joy for Pope Francis’ arrival through dance and song.

Aboard the papal plane bound for Myanmar, Holy Father briefly greeted the journalists accompanying him on his 21st Apostolic Journey and he thanked them for their accomplishment and work which, he said, “always bears fruitful.”
