New Delhi: Indian prime minister Narendra Modi expresses heartfelt joy on the canonization of blessed Mariam Thressia that is bound to happen on the 13th of October at Saint Peter’s Square Vatican City. He addressed the canonization as a cherishing achievement and a moment of pride for the entire country, during his weekly program ‘Mann ki Baat’ that was aired on 29th September 2019. While his talk, he commented that India is a land where extraordinary people were born and have served the people of the country. He said that he is extremely proud of all such saints and great people who have rendered service to the others around them selflessly. Further, he continued to say that as the prime minister, he is extremely proud of the blessed who will soon become a Saint from the country.
Blessed Mariam Thressia will be canonized a saint along with 4 others, on the 13th October 2019 by His Holiness Pope Francis at the Saint Peter’s Basilica Vatican City. Bl. Mariam Thressia was a role model of selfless service to the society. Under her guidance, multiple schools, colleges, and orphanages were institutionalized. She tremendously worked in the fields of social welfare and education until her last breath.
“The blessed nun’s service has always been selfless. She was the pioneer of the congregation of the Holy Family. The religious sisters of the Holy Family still continue their mission with utmost sincerity and selflessness. I once again congratulate and feel proud of all the Christian brothers and sisters in the country over this great achievement,(sic)“ said PM Modi.
Around 400 faithful including bishops, priests, political leaders, and the laity are set to embark on the journey to Rome in order to attend the canonization.
