In the recent Press release of Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India ( CBCI), it conveyed how important it is to have unity among the people in India in order to live in peace and harmony. The press release emphasized on the current violence that are taking place in India in the name of religion, creed and caste. It also highlighted the conflicts in the country that are happening in the name of animals, by the people who call themselves as gaurakhshaks and requested the people to stop killing each other for the sake of religions.
His Excellency Bishop Theodore Mascarenhas, the general secretary of Catholic Bishop’s Conference of India (CBCI) , in the Press release stressed that, “ Our beloved country has been known for its traditional peace and harmony and though there have been times when we have seen unimaginable violence, death and bloodshed, our society has bounced back to peace and brotherhood.”
Reminding the line from our pledge: India is my country and all Indians are my brothers and sisters, the Press release concluded by quoting that “Let us live by our pledge.”
