The Catholic Churches in Indonesia supports the government of the country on teaching the youngsters to be tolerant by respecting each other. The Catholic Churches notifiythe significance of teaching the children to love each other in order to avoid extremisms in the growing generations. The government blames the growth of radicalism on the loss of respect for religious and cultural diversity.
As reported by ucanews.com, Fr. Markus Solo Kewuta from the Pontifical Council for Inter-religious Dialogue’s desk for relations with Muslims in Asia emphasized that “We need to educate children to be open and tolerant and respect other people.” Further, he continued “Some books have intolerant content and should be removed from libraries and destroyed these books impact children.”
The National Council of Catholic Education highlighted about the importance of teaching diversity, pluralism and tolerance to children in school and family in order to make them aware and respect each other’s differences.
