His Excellency Bishop Michael Yeung, the new head of the Catholic Church in Hong Kong highlighted the need to solve and tackle poverty of relationships with the isolated members of the society, while addressing the faithful in a Mass on August 5, 2017. His Grace conveyed the importance of having effective communication between the members of the society in order to create good unity and strength among the faithful.
As reported by ucanews.com, His Excellency Bishop Yeung remarked that “Poverty of relationships was often , but not always , linked to other forms of poverty and in Hong Kong’s aging society, it was important to the health of relationships while dealing the elderly by offering dignity as well as providing material necessities.” Further His Grace added, “Social media such as Facebook, should not be a substitute for human companionship and those in power must have a discerning and wise heart to listen to the youth while parents should take the initiative to listen to their children.”
His Grace delivered his message to the faithful in both Chinese and English and called for compassionate accompaniment for the poor, the sick, the lonely, the elderly, the disenfranchised and the marginalized.
