MANILA: Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle, who has been appointed head of the Vatican Evangelical Corps, is set to organize the Seventh Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE) before he takes up his new position. The main theme of the conference will be ‘Who is my neighbor?’ It is the Gospel of Saint Luke (Sino Ang Aking Capva) (Luke 10:29). Although the conference is usually held in November, Cardinal Tagl hopes to embark on a new mission with the new spirit of PCNE7.
The PCNE-7 is considered as the most important conference for the Filipino people celebrating this year as Ecumenism. The Philippine New Evangelization Conference is the idea that emerged from the popular “chitto” cardinal tagline. This annual conference is attended by over 5000 people including bishops, priests, nuns, and laity. The purpose of the conference is to increase the zeal of the gospel with hymns, prayers, worship, sermons, and testimonies of faith.
