Jerusalem: A statement from the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem reveals that the number of Christians residing in Palestine, East of Jerusalem and Northwest Bank region has declined rapidly over time. This revelation was made by the spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, George Avadh. He stated that currently, only 53000 Christians live in the said places. Surprisingly, these regions are part of the Holy land that pilgrims thrive, in large numbers each year.
He states that the huge numbers of Israeli inhabitation is causing the decline. Due to the majority of the Israeli population, Christians lack the freedom to worship and perform spiritual rituals openly. Yet, he expressed his gratitude to all the leaders of Palestine who treat the Muslims and Christians unbiased.
