The Talitha Kum Committee, part of the Association of Major Superiors of Religious Women in Korea, campaigned against human trafficking and conducted a march through central Seoul to raise awareness about the issue among the public. The campaign named “Let’s make a world without human trafficking together” was launched on September 15, 2017. Around 50 nuns of the committee marched through downtown Seoul distributing leaflets the serious ill effects of human trafficking situation in Korea.
The committee says it will campaign on a regular basis and will keep praying for human trafficking victims and is focusing on eight forms of human trafficking including migrants being used as a forced labor, forced international marriage, foreign prostitutes working in clubs or massage parlors, illegal organ extraction and the trafficking of North Korean women in China.
Talitha Kum is an international network of Religious women fighting against human trafficking with around 600religious and lay people in 70 countries.
