Mexico City: Guadalupe Mother of God will dedicate Latin America on Easter Day in the wake of a global outbreak of coronavirus. It was decided by the Latin American Episcopal Council to seek spiritual protection from the pestilence. Believers will share their dedication rituals online / television through April 12 Mexican Time at 12 noon.
The Latin American Episcopal Council has announced that the rituals at the Mexican National Basilica will be broadcast online and that the bells will be ringing throughout the country during the dedication rituals.
Guadalupe received global attention in 1531 with the appearance of Mexican farmer Juan Diego. Juan arrived at the bishop’s bouquet with the gift of the Holy Mother confirming his vision, and the image of the Holy Mother was miraculously inscribed in the same image that Juan had seen when he placed the flowers. This image is popularly known as ‘Holy Mother of Guadeloupe’. In the centuries after the event, scientists have discovered some amazing and unexplained features in this image of the ‘Holy Mother of Guadalupe’.
