Beirut: The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said at least 3,84,000 people have been killed in the 2011 civil war in Syria. Of those killed, 116,000 are civilians. Syria has witnessed one of the most brutal human tragedies the world has seen since World War II. The Syrian Network for Human Rights reported earlier that 120 Christian churches had been destroyed in Syria since the start of the civil war. Before the war, ten percent of Syria’s 2 million 30 million population were Christian. Pope Francis has repeatedly appealed to the global community to bring peace to the country.
