The violent terrorist attacks that happened in various Churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on the Easter Eve this year, has alerted the Mumbai Police to undertake a comprehensive audit of all the churches and the religious institutions in the city. Police forces said that the security in the city is already been tightened on account Lok Sabha elections, hence patrolling and deployment around the churches has increased.

The instructions to review all the church under the respective jurisdiction has already been given to all the Police stations said the Joint Commissioner of Police Mr.Vinoy Kumar Choubey. The selected volunteers from various churches are made aware of the basic security and vigilance measures which include handheld and door frame Metal Detectors, closed circuit Television cameras and checking of luggage. The volunteers are also instructed on the worst scenario like evacuation in case of an emergency. Security measures at all the churches are being scrutinized with the help of Maharashtra State Security Corporation.

It was April 21st, 2019, the Islamist suicide bombers planned a coordinated attack in six different locations which included Catholic churches and Hotels killing at least 250 people.
