The priests in Southern India seek ways to find out appropriate policies to enhance and empower Dalit Catholics all over India under Catholic Bishops Conference Of India (CBCI). The workshop which was held in Bangalore on 2nd July 2017, organized under CBCI mainly focused on bringing out and implementing powerful policies for the rights of the Dalit Catholics.
CBCI took the initiative to bring the Catholic priests in southern India together to act for this social cause. Representatives from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Pondicherry, Tamil Nadu, Telangana joined the workshop and had a healthy discussion for the welfare of the Dalit Catholics of India. A significant mission was to train experts to go around the country and make the priests and the people understand about the various policies which have been listed for their welfare. As reported by ucanindia.in, Fr. Cosmon Arockiaraj, the former Secretary of CBCI told that “The diocese or region should not follow the piecemeal l approach while preparing the action plan by announcing certain welfare schemes.”
The Commission Secretaries of Regional and Diocese participated in the workshop. CBCI hopes to bring out the best facilities for the Dalit Catholics in the country by the policies.
