Rome: The Depth of Our Hearts: Priesthood, Celebration, and the Crisis of the Catholic Church is delayed by the publication of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI against the abolition of the priesthood. The publishers have named Benedict Pope as the co-author of the book. But Archbishop George Ganswine, secretary of state, said this was wrong. Following the suggestion of Pope Emeritus, the Archbishop informed Cardinal Robert Sarah that he wanted to completely eliminate the name of the pope and co-author on the cover of the book, the International Catholic Press reports.

Archbishop George Ganswine, meanwhile, said the pope’s statement in the book, which strongly supports the priestly celibacy, is 100 percent correct. Pope Benedict, who knew that Cardinal Robert Sara was writing a book, had given Sarah some of her thoughts on the priesthood. However, George Ganswine, a prefect of the Pontifical House, told a press conference in Rome that he was not aware of the title of co-author or of adding his signature with the preface.

The book of Benedict XVI states that the celibacy of Catholic priests is centuries old and requires celibacy to focus on their duties and that these two ordinances (priesthood and marriage) cannot be taken together. Pope Secretary Emeritus Benedict has announced the launch of the French edition of the book. It has been announced that the English version will be released in February. This too is likely to be delayed.
