Juneau and Cleveland dioceses receive new Bishops , appointed by Holy Father Pope Francis.  Fr.Andrew Bellisario will be ordained as the Bishop of  Juneau and His Grace Nelson Perez,  Auxiliary Bishop of Rockville Centre , will be ordained as the Bishop of Cleveland.  His Excellency Nelson Perez succeeds Bishop Richard Lennon, who resigned in December 2016 due to health problems and  Fr.Bellisario succeeds Fr.Edward Burns.

As reported by Catholic News Agency, Bishop Perez conveyed that, “I am filled with excitement and enthusiasm to get to know my brother priests, deacons, religious and faithful of this great diocese and learn all I can possibly learn to serve you, with the grace of God, to the very best of my ability.”  While Fr.Bellisario shared his joy by reflecting that “I am humbled and grateful to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, for appointing me as the next Bishop of Juneau.

Father Andrew Bellisario has been the superior of the International Missions in Alaska and  will be ordained and installed as Bishop of Juneau on Oct 10, 2017. Bishop Nelson Perez has chaired the diocesan planning committee V National Encuentro meeting  for the pastoral care of Hispanic Catholics and will be ordained and installed as Bishop of Cleveland on September 5, 2017.
