His Holiness Pope Francis has appointed His Lordship Rt. Rev. Sebastian Kallupura, until now Bishop of Buxar, as Coadjutor Bishop of the Archdiocese of Patna. Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) have send their prayerful greetings and best wishes to His Grace Bishop Sebastian Kallupura and assured him of their prayers and entrusted him to the intercession of Our Lady, Queen of Aposstles.
His Lordship, Rt. Rev. Sebastian Kallupura, was born on 14th July, 1952 at Teekoy, in the Diocese of Palai, Kerala. In 1971 he joined the Minor Seminary in Palai for Patna Diocese, and was ordained Priest on 14th May, 1984. He holds a Bachelor of Education from Bombay University. He served the Archdiocese of Patna as Parish Priest in various parishes, as Assistant Treasurer, Director of the Archdiocesan Social Apostolate and Director of the Bihar Social Forum. He was elected Bishop of Buxar on 7th April, 2009 and consecrated on 21st June, 2009.
